National Recording Preservation

アメリカでは"National Recording Preservation Act of 2000"と言うのがあって、重要な録音を保存することが法律で義務ずけられているらしい。国会図書館が仕切っている。

具体的には、保存対象の選定をしているみたいで、オリジナルを保存しているとも限らないようではある。世界遺産とか国法の類の指定と思えばいいのだろうか？でも、このリストを眺めていると結構面白い。こんなのが入っている。

有無を言えないようなものばかりだから、面白くないと言えば面白くないのだが、その面白く無さが面白いと思う人には面白い。これは毎年５０個ずつ選定しているので、抜けているものも今後入ってくるものと思われる。ウッドストックとか、ホテルカリフォルニアとか、今後絶対入ってくるんだろうね。ジャニスもドアーズも入っていないし、エルビスももっと入らないとおかしいし。それから、ビートルズはイギリスだろ！とはいえど、これだけは外すわけにもいかないし（笑）フランク・ザッパが既に入っているというのが結構すごいことかな？最近の３つは、まだまだこうして並べると落ち着きが悪いなあ。
　そもそも、これは音楽に限った話ではなくて、録音だから、エジソンとか、アポロとか、政治家の演説とかそういう歴史的な録音も含めてなので、そこの前後比較も面白い。こういうリストやデータが好きな人は、しばらく遊べる。
